Here’s another sweet treat that has been around in my family for decades. A well-known vegan delicacy on all our vegan cookie platters, this was a treat we only ate a few times a year. After all vegan cookies weren’t exactly the most popular option when we were craving a sweet treat. In fact, it was one we reluctantly ate on Lenten holidays. Over the years, I’ve learned to actually like this truffle, even though it contains no milk, cream, custard, and the like, some of my favorite things. If I had to pick a vegan cookie to eat, it would probably be Kornifleks.
This is a very simple recipe, and it comes together very quickly. In fact, it’s probably the easiest vegan/posno dessert you’ll make. While I have provided exact amounts, this one is not easy to mess up. I like to make it interesting and add different types of vegan cereals when I make my kornifleks, like Honey Bunches of Oats, granola, or simply by adding a variety of nuts and seeds. Have fun with it and add your favorites!
If you are preparing this for a posna slava, or any kind of larger dinner party or event these make great filler treats on a dessert tray or display. The recipe yields a lot of truffles if you make them bite-sized. Because of this, I like to stick them in empty spaces on dessert displays or even place them in little cupcake liners which is traditionally how these are served.
These little corn flake truffles are very popular with kids. Chocolate and cereal, what could be bad about that right? I hope you try this super simple recipe soon!

minutesAn easy vegan dessert that adds a little something interesting to any dessert display.
Ingredients
6 cups (180 g) cornflakes
2 sticks (226 g) margarine
1/2 cup (150 g) sugar
1 bar (100 g) dark chocolate
3 tablespoons (63 g) honey
1/4 cup (27 g) ground walnuts
1 tablespoon (10 g) sesame seeds
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl add the cornflakes. Set aside.
- In a saucepan add the sugar, margarine, chocolate, and honey. Cook on medium heat until everything is melted and begins to boil, stirring occasionally. When the mixture begins to boil, reduce the heat to low and cook for an additional 3 minutes stirring consistently.
- After 3 minutes remove the chocolate mixture from the heat and cool slightly, just 2-3 minutes. Then, combine the chocolate and cornflakes. Stir to coat all the flakes.
- Add the sesame seeds and ground walnuts to the mixture and stir well.
- If rolling into balls, wait for the mixture to cool slightly. If transferring to liners spoon the mixture into liners immediately.
- Chill to room temperature and serve. Store any leftovers at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
Notes
- For a looser version, add less honey, but if you’d like to be able to roll them and make them into balls add more honey.
